What does it actually do? 🧟
It crawls. The arms pull, the body drags forward, the head lifts and turns, and it screams. Then it resets and waits for the next person.
How does it know someone is there? 👀
A motion sensor in the chest. Somebody steps onto the path and it starts on its own. There is a switch for always-on if you want it running for a party.
How does it run? 🔌
Batteries, and they are already in it. There is no cable to run across the lawn and nothing to plug in — put it down, switch it on, done. A remote comes with it for on, off and the motion trigger.
How loud is the scream? 🔊
Loud enough to hear from the sidewalk, not loud enough to argue with the neighbors about. There is a volume switch underneath.
Can it go outside all month? 🌧️
Yes. Keep the base out of standing water and bring it in for a real storm. It lives outdoors the rest of the time.
Will it scare a small kid? 🎃
Honestly, yes. Most people put it off the main path so trick-or-treaters choose whether to go near it.

The motion sensor is the whole thing. It sits dead still and then somebody walks past and it comes to life. If it just ran all night it would be half as good.

Batteries were already in it and it worked out of the box, which never happens with this stuff. Took it out, set it on the grass, walked past it, and it went off.
Year one with this guy and the whole street knows the house now.
Great prop. The scream is loud so I turned it down one notch for the little kids and it is perfect at that level. Only thing I would change is I wish the cable for the sensor was a touch longer.
We have three kids on the street who now refuse to cut through our yard, which was honestly the goal.

Second one this year, one on each side of the walk. They do not move together and that somehow makes it worse. Best thing I have bought for Halloween.

Put it in the flower bed so only the arms and head clear the mulch. When it goes off it looks like it is pulling itself out of the ground.
The sensor is the whole product. It waits. That is so much worse than something that just moves all the time.
